Q: why do some SUP boards have 3 fins and some only one ?

Know the answer? Answer this question
A: It all depends on what type of water you will be encountering. 3 fin set ups offer better maneuvering in swells and waves, and will allow for more momentum while surfing. Many boards will have the outer fins removable as they can create drag in flat water, which is where a single fin is more of use. Best advice is to do research on the boards you are looking at and keep in mind just what you are planning to use the board for.
