2009 was just filled with great kayak memories for myself and the others I kayak with, we set off on several trips and ventured to new rivers and lakes. We had such fun that now, January in Michigan, the kayak bug has bitten early this year. With 2010 Kayaks arriving looking beautiful just waiting for some water to get into what are we to do? Well aside from doing some winter river runs which are inevitably in our future, we have begun several other tasks to better prepare for the upcoming season.
With just months to go until the weather turns and we can get out and paddle there is no better time than now to plan trips and make sure we have all the gear to get through the season. mapping out and setting dates early can ensure you actually are prepared and ready to hit the water and everyone has the time to get work off. Winter is also a great time to take inventory of gear, think of things that may help your kayaking in the summer and get all your eggs in a row ahead of time. Personally I am saving my hard earned winter dollars for a new and improved paddle retiring my old one as an emergency, how about you, maybe some new dry bags or a paddle float?
With hopes of a great kayaking season with many fun adventures and new endeavors, happy new year my paddling friends, let’s have a float sometime!
